I’ve worked in technology for over 20 years, building experience across systems architecture, solutions architecture, technology leadership and application development. By day, I work as a Systems and Solutions Architect and Head of Technology, designing secure, scalable platforms and helping organisations use technology to solve complex business problems.

Outside of work, I’m an application developer and product builder who enjoys turning ideas into practical solutions. I’m particularly interested in creating technology that improves the way people work, communicate and interact with the world around them.

Across both my professional work and personal projects, I’m driven by curiosity, problem solving and a genuine interest in building useful technology that can make everyday experiences simpler, better and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

What are you working on at work right now?

I'm leading a Tech Uplift that standardizes our Dev, UAT, Staging, and Production environments from the ground up. We're extracting secrets and database settings from web.config files, database tables, and hardcoded values, and moving everything into a central encrypted vault. We're also decommissioning Bitbucket and Jenkins in favor of GitHub and GitHub Actions to build a stronger CI/CD pipeline. The goal is to let the organization move faster on development and deployment, no more late-night deployments or firefighting outages.

On the other side, I'm running a data migration between our legacy system and a new insurance platform.

Tell me about a personal project — recently finished, or in progress.

I’m building a public platform that allows people to create profiles specifically optimised for AI indexing while remaining hidden from traditional search engines.

The idea is to give people more control over their digital footprint. Instead of leaving it to chance what AI systems discover and associate with them, users can curate the information they want AI systems to access and understand.

It is still in development, but the problem I am trying to solve is fairly simple. There is currently a gap between how people present themselves through traditional search engines and how they are represented by AI systems. I want to give people a way to close that gap on their own terms.

What's a problem you've been thinking about a lot?

I’ve been thinking a lot about drone detection. Most current approaches rely heavily on signal detection or computer vision, and I think both have significant limitations. I’m interested in exploring methods that do not depend on either of those technologies, and I have been developing some ideas around what a completely different approach could look like.

I also spend a lot of time thinking about the disparity in access to healthcare technology. Wealthier countries have access to some of the best medical technology in the world, while many developing nations remain significantly underserved.

It is difficult not to think about the potential impact. Better access to affordable healthcare technology could improve treatment and potentially save lives on a significant scale. That disparity continues to stand out to me as a problem worth trying to solve.

What's an interesting project you've shipped lately?

I launched dicom-burner.com after several years of development and iteration.

The project grew out of frustrations I experienced while working in healthcare. Many vendors charge significant amounts for software that performs relatively simple functions, even when those functions are critical to day-to-day clinical workflows.

A bigger issue is that many of these products are designed and priced for Western healthcare systems. Hospitals and clinics in developing countries often need the same capabilities but simply cannot justify or afford the cost.

I built DICOM Burner to help address that gap. Today, it is used by hundreds of hospitals around the world and processes thousands of patient radiology studies every day.

It is a relatively small piece of software, but it is one of the achievements I am most proud of in my career. It has also reinforced my interest in building practical technology that solves genuine problems, particularly in markets and communities that are often underserved.

Tell me about a personal project your working on not related with your career

I'm currently building out a BBQ and seating area in my space. It's a white cement BBQ with a circular cement seating arrangement and large pavers on the ground. It's a hands-on project that keeps me occupied outside of work.

What did you learn recently that changed how you work?

I've been working with the Chase AI Crucible project to develop better plans before I start building. It's changed how I approach development, spending that upfront time on structure has made the actual work cleaner and faster. The framework is worth checking out if you're looking to improve your planning process.

PiperKoi — PiperKoi is a video-first investor engagement platform that helps public companies communicate directly with investors in a more engaging and accessible way. Companies can share short-form video updates, respond to investor questions with video, and build an ongoing content stream around their business, announcements, strategy and performance. For investors, PiperKoi provides a simpler and more engaging way to discover companies, follow the businesses they care about, ask questions and hear directly from management. It brings the familiarity of modern social video platforms to investor relations.
